Jabak Meets with the World Bank Regional Director Saroj Kumar
A delegation of the World Bank headed by the Regional Director Saroj Kumar visited today Minister of Public Health Dr. Jamil Jabak at his office at the Ministry. The meeting discussed the poor health situation of a large number of Lebanese, the difficult situation of the governmental hospitals and their urgent need for equipment and rehabilitation. The WB Regional Director and the delegation stressed on the need to bridge the gap and put an end to the way money used to be wasted.
Minister Jabak
Minister Jabak called for the provision of additional financial support for the governmental hospitals as to the equipment of new basic units in the different regions. Jabak stressed on the transparency in work and the engagement of the World Bank in the supervision and control and the introduction of a policy to rationalize spending and improve how the money is spent.
Saroj statement
The meeting with Minister Jabak was positive and constructive. We discussed the health situation and the needs of the governmental hospitals and the citizens. We have always been working to support the health sector through projects. We reiterate our full support to this sector through partnership in order to improve the current situation. We highlight the importance of sound spending and good investment to avoid gaps. It was agreed on a second meeting in the next month.
