Vaccination and Awareness Campaigns Conducted by the Ministry of Health against Measles
The information office of the Ministry of Public Health issued the following statement:
With reference to the previous statement that reported that “Lebanon is currently witnessing an outbreak of measles cases among unvaccinated children, in particular in the districts of Baabda, Zahleh and some north districts”, the Ministry of Public Health would like to inform that it has conducted a vaccination campaign from 15 to 19 March 2018 in Shatila camp in collaboration with the UNICEF, WHO, and in coordination with “Médecins sans frontières”, the United Nations Agency for Palestinian refugees and Makhzoumi. The campaign targeted children from 2 months to 15 years old; 12177 children have been vaccinated with the oral polio vaccine, 9400 children received measles vaccine and 3102 have been vaccinated with poliomyelitis vaccine.
The Ministry of Public Health continues to cooperate with the local and international partners to conduct vaccination campaigns in the region where measles cases have been reported, where it conducted a campaign in Zahleh from 28 March to 4 April 2018.
The MoPH stressed the need to vaccinate the children and that parents assume this responsibility especially that the vaccines are provided for free in all the PHC centers and dispensaries across Lebanon.
