Hasbani Meets with a Delegation of the World Health Organization

In his efforts to promote the national pharmaceutical industry, Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani held a meeting in his office at the Ministry with a high-level delegation of the World Health Organization in Geneva, representatives of WHO regional office and WHO regional director for Lebanon. The meeting took place in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry and the syndicate of the pharmaceutical industries in Lebanon. The delegation came to Beirut to conduct a survey of some local pharmaceutical industries and the mechanisms of quality control developed by the Ministry of Public Health that have started to be implemented since 2010.

This visit comes upon the official request of the Lebanese Ministry of Public health and the syndicate of the pharmaceutical industries in Lebanon in order to seek the opinion of independent experts in this field as to high quality of the medicines locally manufactured, to suggest mechanisms to support the Lebanese pharmaceutical industry and promote them in the Lebanese, Arab and international markets.

The delegation’s second visit to Beirut is scheduled at the beginning of 2019 to complete the survey of the remaining industries.
