MoPH: The Palestinian Child Wehbeh Received Treatment at the Expense of UNRWA and was Admitted to the Hospital as Required
The information office of the Ministry of Public Health issued the following statement:
In response to the news circulated on the reasons behind the death of the Palestinian child Mohamed Majdi Wehbeh and following the immediate investigations undertaken by the Ministry of Public Health and its communication with UNRWA that provides medical assistance to Palestine refugees in Lebanon, the following was found:
11/08/2018 Wehbeh had undergone a brain surgery in Hammoud Hospital.
14/09/2018 he had undergone another brain surgery in Hammoud Hospital.
13/12/2018 he had been admitted to the Islamic Hospital where he stayed until 17/12/2018
17/12/2018 he had been transferred to Tripoli’s Governmental Hospital where he died.
The child was admitted to all these hospitals and received treatment, which was covered by UNRWA and he died inside the hospital.
The Ministry of Public Health calls on everyone to very any information before disseminating the same through social media and not to mislead public opinion out of respect for death and to preserve the image of the Lebanese health care sector.
