The Director General of Health Heads Lebanon's Delegation to the Ministerial Conference on the Road to Achieving Universal Health Coverage in the Eastern Mediterranean Region
At the invitation of WHO Regional Office and the Ministry of Health in the Sultanate of Oman, the MOPH Director General headed Lebanon’s delegation of the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Finance to attend the ministerial conference on the road to achieving Universal Health Coverage in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. The delegation was accompanied by former MP Dr. Atef Majdalani and WHO representative to Lebanon. In his intervention, Dr. Walid Ammar mentioned the achievements of the Ministry of Public Health and its local and regional partners with respect to the Universal Health coverage, in terms of the improvement of health indicators such as the reduction of mother and child mortality and household spending on health. Many global studies have shown that these achievements helped Lebanon rank high among the Arab countries as to the access to quality health services and the improvement of health sector.
