A Warehouse of Medicines Raided in Damour by Lebanese Customs; the MoPH not Being Informed

The Information Office of the Ministry of Public Health issued the following statement:

A warehouse in Damour, Chouf was raided today by the competent services of the General Directorate of Lebanese Customs which announced that expired medicines had been confiscated; the Moph hasn’t been informed however. It would have been preferable to ask the support of the Pharmacy Inspection department of the Ministry – the competent organ – to verify whether the confiscated drugs are stored for later disposal. The Ministry of Public Health obliges all pharmacies, drug warehouses, dispensaries and all concerned establishments to report on any expired quantity, so that the Pharmacy Inspection department ensures their storage in a place where they cannot be circulated and prepares detailed lists of the same before they are transported to the warehouses of the Ministry of Environment for treatment.

The Ministry of Public Health will inspect the location and take the necessary steps to ensure the required standards are followed as to how to deal with the expired drugs.
