Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani launched the Cancer Treatment Guidelines at Beit El Tabib in collaboration with the UNDP.
The ceremony started with a statement delivered by Mrs. Arian Almas from the UNDP followed by that of the President of the AUB Dr. Fadlo Khuri who stated that the project started in 2010 when Health Ministry and the UNDP submitted a request for the development of the best cancer treatment guidelines according to international specifications and standards. The National committee was then formed and included a number of renowned oncologists in Lebanon. It launched two editions of the National cancer treatment and today we unveil the third edition that will be officially adopted by Health Ministry.

In a statement, Health Minister emphasized the need to direct expenditure on cancers towards the provision of efficient treatment. “The Ministry of Public health attached great importance to cancers, and provided all the treatment requirements within an almost total coverage of the treatment cases, as well as the medicines, diagnostic services and treatment.”
Hasbani thanked the Moph working team who developed the guidelines, and acknowledged the work of the UNDP and TOKTEN.
