Workshop at the Ministry of Health on the Regulation of the Marketing of Infant Feeding Products
On the occasion of the World Pharmacists Day and within the framework of the implementation of Law No.14/2008 aimed at protecting breastfeeding, baby and infant feeding, the Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with the UNICEF and the International Orthodox Christian Charities held a workshop on the implementation of Law No. 47/2008 entitled “the regulation of the marketing of infant and newborn feeding products and its means”, which is the function of the Pharmacy inspection.
The workshop held on 12 January 2018 in the auditorium of the Ministry in Bir-Hassan in the presence of the Ministry’s Pharmacy inspectors opened with a statement delivered by two representatives of the Ministry and the UNICEF, followed by an introduction to the goals of the session.
During the workshop, the importance of breastfeeding, infant and newborn feeding, the international policies and the related guidance were outlined. The Lebanese Law No.47/2008 was introduced and the means to improve its implementation were discussed. The workshop concluded with the suggestion of a mechanism for the implementation of the law, and the submission of recommendations to the decision makers.
