Hasbani during the Inauguration of an Advanced Division at the Radiotherapy Department of Mount-Lebanon Hospital
 
Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani inaugurated the Advanced Division at the Radiotherapy Department of Mount-Lebanon Hospital where the modern TRUEBEAM machine will operate. 

TRUEBEAM performs high-precision radiation treatment according to global standards and NOVALIS system that allows doctors to target and treat tumors, in particular head, lung and prostate cancers with higher doses of radiation in fewer sessions. This may decrease the side effects of the treatment of tumors, notwithstanding their size or where they are found, taking into consideration the change in the movement and size of tumor during radiotherapy.

Minister Hasbani congratulated the hospital for this quality development that is considered as clear evidence that Lebanon ranks first in the Middle East and 32nd at the global level as for its performance in health care sector.

“Today we are witnessing an event where technology and medicine meet after technology enabled fast progress in treatment means. In this respect, it is worth noting that Lebanon is a pioneer in the investment is such matters. Mount-Lebanon hospital has always been a pioneer in achieving progress, investing in technology and developing human life. This step encourages the other hospitals to develop their equipment and invest in health care sector,” Hasbani noted.
 
Gharios

“There are currently 240 beds in Mount-Lebanon hospital, and this number will increase to 440 beds in the years to come. The radiotherapy department has started to operate since 22 years and it was renewed seven years ago, knowing that it is now equipped with modern technologies that cost more than 7 million dollars,” Gharios said.
 
“This technology can deliver treatment with high accuracy and speed, and reduces the number of sessions at the hospital from 33 to one to five sessions only,” he added.
