Launching of the National Awareness Campaign on Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Young Athletes

The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with CHAMPS Fund at the American University of Beirut, launched the national awareness campaign on sudden cardiac arrest in youth, through a press conference entitled "Keep your hearts alive".

The campaign will run from February 2018 until December 2018.

During this period, the CHAMPS Fund will cooperate with 35 primary health care centers from all Lebanese Districts to raise public awareness about the escalating risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest in youth. The campaign will also perform early cardiac screening such as medical check-ups and Electrocardiograms (EKGs) for athletes between the ages of 12 and 35, and conduct trainings for professionals on the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques (CPR).

Sudden Cardiac Arrest in youth is a growing public health issue and it is time to address it through raising awareness and implementing preventive measures. Together we can protect the hearts of young people and keep them alive. (Read more...)
