Press Release Concerning the Pharmaceutical Products GSDP Certificates Awarding Ceremony
 
PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS GSDP CERTIFICATES AWARDING CEREMONY
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 10, 2017- ESA

An official awards ceremony organized by the Ministry of Public Health represented by HE Mr. Ghassan Hasbani, Minister of health, and its General Director Dr. Walid Ammar took place on Friday February 10, 2017 at ESA business school.

The awarded certificates bear witness of the compliance of pharmaceutical products institutions with the good storage and distribution practices (GSDP) set and circulated by the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon.

Mr. Ghassan Hasbani has indeed awarded 57 institutions/stores of pharmaceutical products in compliance with the established standards.

The Minister of Health has also granted appreciation awards to the people who contributed to the success of the project: Dr. Walid Ammar, Director General of Health, Miss Chrystelle Fransawi, GSDP Committee member, Dr. Rita Karam, Director of the Ministry’s Quality and assurance program of pharmaceutical products   and GSDP Committee member, Dr. Colette Raidy, Head of the inspection department at the Ministry and member of GSDP committee, Mrs. Perrine Malaud Wakim, ESA representative to the GSDP committee and Dr. Myriam Watfa, member of GSDP Committee.

This project aims to reinforce the registration and launching procedures of medicines, the quality of their storage, distribution and pharmacovigilance.  A comprehensive study on the bioequivalence of generic medicines has also been launched.  The sector professionals have been trained by the members of the committee on the new procedures and the implementation of a quality control system on all steps of the supply chain in collaboration with experts from the French specialized healthcare institution (ANSM).
 
Representing the French ambassador, Mrs. Veronique Aulagnon, Director of the French Institute in Lebanon and Cooperation and cultural adviser, has reiterated in her speech the importance of the Franco-Lebanese cooperation in the healthcare sector.

Prominent figures have also attended the event, the president of the Syndicate of importers and manufacturers of medicines in Lebanon Mr. Armand Phares, Mrs. Carole Abi Karam, the president of the private hospitals syndicate of Lebanon Mr. Sleiman Haroun, the president of the syndicate of Biologists, Dr. Christian Haddad, and a large number of health and pharmaceutical institutions directors.
 
The ceremony marks an important step towards the development of Franco-Lebanese cooperation projects, which have for the past ten years contributed to the improvement of the healthcare sector.  The ceremony coincided with the visit of the French Minister of Health and Social affairs to ESA Mrs. Marisol Touraine, who met prior to the ceremony her Lebanese counterpart, Mr. Hasbani, Vice prime minister and minister of health, and both parties have signed a cooperation protocol.
